Jerome Puyau grew up in Jefferson Parish and has over 30 years of education experience. He previously served as the superintendent of Vermilion Parish Schools and served six years in a supervisor's role over facilities and maintenance. He got his first teaching job at Worley Middle School and taught special education at Erath High School for 15 years before becoming an assistant principal at Abbeville High School. He is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana and has his Masters of Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
