A strategic plan outlines our hopes and dreams for our students, guides our work, creates a shared common language, and aligns our resources to the actions that will transform outcomes for our kids. Through our engagement opportunities these last few years - including school visits, Superintendent’s Councils, Discovery Days, Town Halls, and conversations with community, business, civic, and faith leaders - we have gathered feedback and input about what’s working and where we need to improve as a district. As we finalize our next strategic plan that takes us into 2028, we want to gather additional feedback from our stakeholders about what matters most as we continue on the road to excellence. 

To that end, Jefferson Parish Schools is conducting a stakeholder survey from May 24-June 5 to give us a better understanding of the needs of our students, families, employees, and community members. We will use the feedback from this survey to help create our updated 2028 strategic plan. 

The opinions of our stakeholders are important to us, and this survey is a chance to express those opinions. All responses will remain strictly anonymous, and we will not be able to trace individual responses. We ask that stakeholders are thoughtful and honest when they complete the survey.

Why are we updating our strategic plan?

When our current strategic plan, 2024: The Future Our Kids Deserve, launched in February 2019, it laid the foundation for the work happening now in Jefferson Parish Schools. We initiated many new practices, structures, and systems because of it. These included utilizing Tier 1 curriculum district-wide, launching our Ignite and Embark educator development pipelines, creating more PK-8 schools, starting Superintendent’s Councils, and targeting our highest-need schools through the Transformation Network. Over the last four years, we have successfully implemented actions from the plan through the hard work and commitment from our students, families, teachers, support staff, administrators, School Board, and community. Our students’ growth these past two years show us that the moves we’re making from our 2024 strategic plan are working. 

However, we are due for an updated plan. Most strategic plans are designed to last three to five years, plus the context for our work has shifted, including impacts from the pandemic, changes in our student demographics, and new laws and policies. While there will be some new things we implement in the next iteration of our strategic plan, the biggest lift is going to come from ensuring that we continue to strengthen the successful practices, structures, and systems we’re currently using.
