Message from Dr. Brumley: June 2019
In Jefferson Parish Schools, we exist to provide the education our students deserve to succeed in life and make our world a better place. Educating kids is important work. If you think what happens in JP Schools doesn’t matter to you, think again. It impacts everyone who lives or works in Jefferson Parish. As more of our students graduate high school ready for a career or college, our parish is more likely to have a quality workforce, stronger economy, healthier citizens, higher property values, and safer neighborhoods.
The value of a strong public school system is undeniable. We’ve set ambitious goals for our district, but we can’t do this work alone. One of the six priorities in 2024 is that we partner with families, community members, school board members, agencies, and other stakeholders. It’s vital that we give the community opportunities to support students and schools.
I’m excited to announce the launch of the JP Schools Adopt-A-School Program. It’s our mission to partner every school in our district with an organization willing to invest time and resources into our kids.
If you or someone you know is interested in supporting our students, staff, and schools, take a few minutes to complete our application at jpschools.org/adoptaschool. This is not a “one size fits all” approach. There are many ways an organization can benefit a school. We’re strategically partnering applicants where they can make the most impact.
As I’ve met with community leaders over the past year, many groups have expressed a willingness to help – they just weren’t sure how or where to start. Our Adopt-A-School-Program creates a way to streamline a process that will lead to life-changing opportunities for our kids.
